Things are A-OK again

The blog is fully functional with all the old entries in tact. That didn’t take as long as I thought it would to manually re-add each entry.

On a different note, I will most likely be unable to post any new entries until my 2nd semester is either finished, or nearing the end. I will be leaving to go on vacation for two weeks in February and as soon as I come back, I’ve got papers to write (bad time to go on vacation, I know!). But I will be back!

Rakaka 12: Falling Out

February 6th, 2010 / 1 Comment » / by Jinny

When Tasha died the first time, that was the lowest point in Aaron’s life, so Tasha’s disappearance a second time was, while sad, bearable. Of course, he was devastated she was gone again, but he was able to control himself. There were no random outbursts of tears and wailing at random moments during the day, thank goodness. Aaron really didn’t have the time for that. Being a Workaholic, a full-time narcissist and now, a single father of six kids kept him constantly busy. And there was baby Madelyn, who was clearly a ghost, and had the most eerie ghostly wail that seemed to have a triple echo effect when she cried, so Aaron worked extra hard taking care of her to prevent her from howling at the top of her little lungs. The townspeople, naturally, found the recent events at the Rakaka house very intriguing and gossip-worthy. Oh did you hear, Aaron’s sixth child is a ghost! Yes, yes, Tasha the Ghost has returned to the Netherworld, you heard right. Oh, I know eh? Who would have thought that Aaron was secretly family-oriented?? (He was not, but everyone speculated he must be, deep, deep down somewhere).

Rakaka 11: Third Time’s The Charm

February 6th, 2010 / No Comments » / by Jinny

As you may have no doubt guessed by now, Tasha was pregnant. After throwing up in the toilet bowl for the fifth time, Aaron brought his lovely resurrected wife to Alec’s house to see what was the matter with Tasha, since Alec was working in the health career track, and may know about things like this. To Aaron’s great joy and relief, Tasha was perfectly fine (except for the fact that she was dead) and that the reason for her constant vomiting was that she was now pregnant. It was a medical miracle! Alec couldn’t explain how such a thing could be possible, and he stressed this to his little brother, telling him that this is a Very Big Deal, and that he should be wary if anything strange occurs and stressed the importance of regular hospital check-ups. Aaron wasn’t really listening though; he only heard the words Very Big Deal and he gleefully thought about what everyone in town would think about this Very Big Deal. Ah, another thing to add to his resume of Awesomeness — ‘Able to impregnate ghosts.’

Rakaka 10: The Un-Twin-Like Twins

Aaron was inconsolable in the days following his wife’s tragic death. Even though he was receiving much pity and sympathizing in town, he found he couldn’t absorb and enjoy the attention (though you bet your life he tried). He did not speak to anyone or see anyone, except for his children. He didn’t want to, and it suited him just fine. His boss offered him a few months off, but Aaron refused the offer. For one, it felt like pity and he, the magnificent Aaron, does not accept pity from other people; he is accustomed to being the one pitying others … on the rare occasion he felt like pitying someone, anyway. Secondly, taking work away from a Workaholic would just make him more depressed. He devoted himself completely to his dreams of becoming a Superstar Athlete and watching over his three sons. It was difficult; every time he looked at one of them, he saw his beloved Tasha in their faces and he would have loved to nothing more than to just wail like a big baby, a spoiled child, and cry out Life isn’t fair!! But he reminded himself he was a man, and kept his sniffling away from everyone’s eyes.

Rakaka 9: Fulfilled And Unfulfilled

February 6th, 2010 / No Comments » / by Jinny

To Thornton’s absolute delight, Shawna began dating Adrian Cortes, former paperboy of the family. Shawna was hesitant at first, to start dating Adrian. For so long, she had battled against her father, refusing every man he brought into the house as a potential suitor, even if she did think some of them were cute. It had become routine, almost instinct, that she would reject all these men. While Shawna treated Adrian much the same way, Adrian was different because he actually took part in the chase. Where the other men Thornton brought home for his daughter gave up when they realized Shawna’s complete lack of interest in them, Adrian persisted. As much as Shawna didn’t want to let her father know that he had won the battle, Shawna was becoming increasingly interested in Adrian. He had his downsides of course — sometimes he became unbearably Hot-Headed, and he often insisted he was born Unlucky — but Shawna admired his Daredevil quality, appreciated his Family-Oriented ways and found his Couch Potato trait fit snugly with her tendency to sit in front of a computer for long periods of time. And as the months passed by slowly like a dream, Shawna found her feelings for Adrian grew larger and larger, overwhelming her and making her even more Over Emotional than usual.

Rakaka 8: Someone Marry Her Please!

February 6th, 2010 / No Comments » / by Jinny

Last chapter, we ended off with Aaron proposing to Tasha, resulting in Tasha moving into the crazy Rakaka house. Aaron naturally decided that he must show off his new engaged status and since he had already gloated all he could in front of Shawna, he and Tasha ended up on the front steps of Alec’s house. Aaron hadn’t visited his brother in a few months now, but upon hearing from Shawna that his sister-in-law is pregnant, Aaron decided this was the perfect opportunity to swing by, with the underlying motive of showing off his fiancee and the fantastic diamond engagement ring he bought for her. The door swung open and a very pregnant Mindi approached them, waddling like a penguin. As soon as Mindi got close enough, Aaron forgot all about her being pregnant. His mind filled with only himself and he launched right into his prepared monologue about him and his new fiancee and how their wedding is going to be super awesome.

Rakaka 7: Get Married

February 6th, 2010 / No Comments » / by Jinny

The household was constantly busy during the following months as the Rakakas organized and prepared for the wedding between Alec and Mindi. It was quite rushed since Thornton was ecstatic that his kids were finally reaching marriageable age and will be moving out. He had vowed to better his relationships with his children, and he felt this was achievable only if his children were no longer living with him in the same house. With that in mind, it’s no surprise that Thornton did most of the organization. He chuckled when he thought about this — him, Thornton Wolff, a wedding planner! But you’d be mistaken if you thought a rushed planning meant sloppiness, not under Thornton’s Perfectionist eye. And so, the guests arrived on the joyful day in their best clothes to watch Alec and Mindi tie the knot in the Rakaka backyard and garden. Alec, who never thought that he would marry (not with his many unfortunate personality traits) could hardly believe that it was really happening, even as the ‘I do’s’ and rings were exchanged.

Rakaka 6: Epiphanies & Graduation

February 6th, 2010 / No Comments » / by Jinny

Nancy’s death affected the whole family. Her children were naturally devastated; they didn’t think they’d be losing their crazy mother so soon in life. They were only teenagers, after all, and had sort of assumed that their mother would be there when they graduated, when they got their first jobs, when they got married and when they had grandchildren. There was a dark cloud of gloom over the house that was so unbearable that Alec found himself spending more time at his girlfriend Kim’s house instead. Kim and her entire family sympathized for him, doing their best to comfort Alec. Alec appreciated it, but truth be told, Nancy’s death had made Alec crabbier than ever. Kim was an understanding person, but as months passed after Nancy’s death, it became too much. It was no surprise to anyone when Alec announced that he and Kim had split up.

Rakaka 5: The Rivalry

February 5th, 2010 / No Comments » / by Jinny

At long last came the day Aaron had been dreaming about — he was becoming a teenager, which meant he would enter high school and everyone knows that’s where the real popularity game is. He was, of course, confident that he would be the most popular boy in school, and was already daydreaming about himself dating whoever the most popular girl would be. His birthday was spent at home, and like every other birthday in the Rakaka house, it was not noticed unless someone happened to be walking by. In this case, Thornton happened to be walking by and upon seeing his last child age into a teenager, he couldn’t help but smile and clap his hands cheerfully, though you’d be mistaken if you thought he was celebrating Aaron’s transition. No, he was just glad that the last child was no longer a child.

Rakaka 4: The Grilled Cheese Gods

February 5th, 2010 / No Comments » / by Jinny

Alec and Shawna didn’t know if they Aaron was trying to get back at them for ignoring them most of his toddler years (Aaron wasn’t), but Alec and Shawna were quite tired of the little brat’s attitude. Apparently his older and brother were too Slobby for him, too stupid, and just plain embarrassing. Alec, whose temperament isn’t too full of sunshine to begin with, was doubly annoyed, and was determined to knock his little brother down a peg or two. Seeing how Aaron was obsessed with keeping himself in tip top shape, Alec decided to pack on some muscle himself. Once he hit his teenage years, he hit the minimum requirement to operate the machines at the local gym and Alec found himself there every few days, working out his arms and legs. Or attempting to, in any case — it turns out that Alec and exercising just aren’t meant to be. When Aaron found out what his older brother was up to, he burst out laughing and called his brother a Loser. Which sadly, Alec was and despite his tough exterior, this hurt him and he never went back to the gym.
